Ex-AC Milan keeper Ielpo: Maignan can do better than Donnarumma

Former Lazio and AC Milan goalkeeper Mario Ielpo believes Mike Maignan can quickly help fans forget about Gigio Donnarumma.

Donnarumma left Milan last summer for PSG and was replaced by former Lille keeper Maignan.

After watching his performance in defeat at Liverpool, Ielpo said of Maignan: "He gives the impression of covering the goal even more than Donnarumma. Donnarumma already gave this impression but he seems to give it even more."

On Maignan's reaction to Mohamed Salah's goal, Ielpo also said: "He certainly had to stay still a little further. But that was a tricky ball, Salah always had the ball a bit within range and maybe, Maignan had come out, he would have anticipated the finish.

"After the rebound he had to take a step forward and hope that he would shoot at him, but those balls are deadly."
