It’s an exciting day in the European football calendar as the draw will be made for the Champions League and Europa League knockout phases.
Here’s the lowdown on Monday’s draw.
The draw takes place at 12pm CET on Monday from Uefa’s HQ in Nyon, Switzerland.
Confirmed group winners (seeded)
Confirmed group runners-up (unseeded)
As usual, teams from the same country cannot face each other in the Round of 16, nor can clubs face each other if they already met in the group stage.
Well in case you’d forgotten, there’s actually going to be a pretty huge change this season, with the away goals rule having been scrapped.
That means ties that are level 180 minutes will go to extra time irrespective of the number of goals each team has scored at home and away. If the teams still cannot be separated after the additional 30 minutes, the tie goes to a penalty shoot-out.
Exciting.
The first legs are scheduled for 15/16/22/23 February, with the second legs on 8/9/15/16 March.
The draw for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final will then take place on Friday 18 March.
That also takes place on Monday, one hour after the Champions League draw.
This year it’s going to be a little different, with a 16-team play-off round to take place featuring the eight runners-up from the Europa League group stage and the eight third-placed teams from the Champions League group stage.
Seeded teams
Unseeded teams
No side can face another team from the same national association and the first legs are scheduled for 17 February, with the second legs a week later.
The winners of the eight ties will join the eight Europa League group winners in the Round of 16. The losers are out.
There’s also the small matter of the Europa Conference League draw, taking place at 14:00 CET.
That one also features 16 teams …
Eight runners-up from the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage (seeded teams).
Eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Europa League group stage (unseeded teams).
