Liverpool journalist Paul Gorst thinks that the Reds are "relaxed" about not signing Jude Bellingham this summer transfer window.

Speaking to Liverpool Echo, Gorst has claimed that the Reds' interest in Bellingham is on the "backburner".

"It would be interesting to see if they are forced into decisive action in the way Spurs' interest in Luis Diaz did but for now, I think it's one that's on the backburner," he said, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

"The reports coming from Germany is of a prohibitive price tag that is likely designed to ward off suitors. Liverpool are clearly big fans of what he can do, but everything I've heard is that the club are relaxed over their midfield options so far.

"I think it probably comes down, ultimately, to Borussia Dortmund's unwillingness to lose both (Erling) Haaland and Bellingham in the same summer."

Anfield Watch Verdict

The club may be relaxed about this deal, but the Anfield faithful are not. You only have to go on Twitter to see that a lot of Liverpool supporters are desperate for the club to sign Bellingham.

But, the aforementioned transfer probably won't happen this summer if Gorst's report is anything to go by.

Does that mean I'm not on the Bellingham 2022 train? Absolutely not.

In my opinion, it makes so much sense to sign him this summer. As Gorst said, Dortmund have put a price tag of just over £100 million on the England international's head and if they weren't interested in selling him, then they probably wouldn't have named a price.

Also, if the Reds wait another year, then there could be a dozen other sides interested in signing him and they would probably be able to offer him much higher wages.

However, I'll trust the club to make the correct decision.
