Former French international Éric Abidal has strongly responded, via a message posted on his Instagram account, to the rumors announcing his death that have spread rapidly in recent days.

Éric Abidal breaks the silence: "I am alive and in great shape"

The former defender wanted to reassure his followers and supporters by writing:

"certain rumors should never exist.i am here with my family, and everything is fine.respect is essential.there is a family and my children behind me.to be clear – i am fine, alive, and in good health.thank you for your support and your messages of concern.let’s focus on what truly matters."

The former FC Barcelona star faced a major medical challenge during his career after a liver tumor was discovered in 2011, which required surgery and forced him away from the pitch.Despite this ordeal, he managed to return in 2013, before later having to undergo a liver transplant.Abidal wore the colors of several clubs, including Monaco and Olympiacos, before announcing his retirement in 2014, capping off a career marked by numerous successes and challenges.
