Everything in our own hands in big home match

Unusual role of chasing Sturm Graz

It's all or nothing time! There is no chance of exaggerating the importance of our big match this Sunday at home to SK Sturm Graz. Despite recent results there is no need to panic – a win on Sunday would take us to the top of the table with three matches remaining of the season and therefore put us in pole position as the title race nears the final straight.

It's not often we have gone into a match with Sturm behind them in the table, but there is an encouraging precedent. The last time we faced the Graz side when we were second in the table, in November 2017, we took a sensational 5-0 win to soar back to the top of the pack – a repeat performance this Sunday would do very nicely!

Another good omen for our Red Bulls is that we have won ten of our eleven clashes against Sturm in the championship group, most recently with a 1-0 win in Graz at the end of March. The only defeat we have suffered came back on 27 April 2022 away at the Merkur Arena (1-2), after we had already sealed the title.

There is no question that we need to show a response after our slip-up in the Klagenfurt rain. Everything is set up for that though - with a packed stadium on a glorious afternoon ready to cheer us all the way back to the top of the table.

Resales platform as last chance for tickets

Almost all tickets are sold for Sunday. The last chance to get a ticket is our official resales platform. The tickets available in this way are shown as normal in our online Ticket Shop. Details on this and everything else worth knowing about coming to the match can be found in our match day info.

Views

The position ahead of the game has changed with the roles being reversed. It is still a clash of first against second and an absolutely huge match. We want to show we can react after the match in Klagenfurt, which we didn't like. We have to play our usual football again on Sunday. It has to be clear to everyone that we want to win. We need to have conviction in every challenge, every pass and every shot.

Sturm will play with a high intensity again on Sunday, as we have come to know them. We will do the same thing though, perhaps with a bit more than them. We are all looking forward to the match, and it's down to us to show what FC Red Bull Salzburg stands for.
