“Everyone at City, they knew” – Enzo Maresca clears up daft Chelsea player debate

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has now cleared up one debate that has always been rather daft going around about one Blues player who recently joined the club.

Well I say recently joined, but he’s actually becoming quite a seasoned Chelsea player now compared to many of the other new signings. But he did arrive now well over a year ago.

EXCLUSIVE! Some big early team news for Chelsea vs Leicester City as Enzo Maresca makes big reshuffle in midfield!

Cole Palmer came in and literally stormed it at Chelsea, topping all the charts for goals and assists, and becoming a household name not just in England, but all over the world amongst football fans.

He truly became Chelsea’s talisman and especially last season, very much carried this team at times. Without Palmer, I fear where Chelsea would have ended the campaign last season, it would have been quite embarrassing I feel.

When he left City, there was a lot of debates perhaps more from Chelsea fans saying daft things like ‘if Pep Guardiola will sell him then he cannot be any good.’

Well, it turns out he is actually pretty good, right? And it was more the fact that he just wanted to play regular football and at City, he had ridiculous competition ahead of him at the point of leaving the club.

Chelsea’s gain

Palmer and Maresca

Thankfully for Chelsea, he had that competition. But City didn’t sell him because they didn’t rate him. Maresca says they know how good he is at that club.

In words cited on X as part of Maresca’s latest press conference ahead of the Leicester City game last night, the Italian said:

“Everyone at City, they knew how good Cole [Palmer] is. The only problem is that having so many players there, it’s difficult to give all of them minutes, so no one at City thought that Cole was not good enough, no doubt.”

I’m sure City wouldn’t mind Palmer back now!
