For the September break, Arsenal received 13 international call-ups as follows:

Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka (England), Matt Turner (United States), William Saliba (France), Kieran Tierney (Scotland), Takehiro Tomiyasu (Japan), Thomas Partey (Ghana), Granit Xhaka (Switzerland), Martin Odegaard (Norway), Nicolas Pepe (Ivory Coast), Omar Rekik (Tunisia), Runar Alex Runarsson (Iceland), and Karl Hein (Estonia).

Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mohamed Elneny, and Emile Smith Rowe all missed out through injury.

Elsewhere, Ben White, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, and Gabriel Magalhaes were all somewhat surprising omissions from their national team squads. Perhaps it’s also a little unexpected to see Nuno Tavares overlooked by Portugal after his strong start on loan with Marseille.

  1. Scotland 3-0 Ukraine – Tierney played 86 minutes and helped Scotland keep a clean sheet, playing at left-back.

Thursday, September 22nd

  • Iceland 1-0 Venezuela – Runarsson played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet for Iceland, making two saves.
  • France 2-0 Austria – Saliba came on as a first-half substitute and played 67 minutes, helping France keep a clean sheet.

Friday, September 23rd
