Cole Palmer has been named England Men’s Player of the Year for 2024 after a breakthrough year for the Chelsea midfielder.

Palmer made his England debut in November 2023 and has since won nine caps for the Three Lions, scoring two goals. The 22-year-old was introduced into the England squad after a stunning first season at Chelsea, where Palmer led the Premier League for goal involvements in 2023/24.

Despite limited involvement at Euro 2024, he delivered in the latter stages of the tournament with the assist for Ollie Watkins’ dramatic semi-final winner against the Netherlands and a goal off the bench in the final defeat to Spain.

Palmer finished ahead of Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka in the vote, who placed second and third respectively. He becomes the 13th player to win the award since its introduction in 2003 and the first Chelsea player to win the vote since Ashley Cole in 2010.

Wayne Rooney hold the record for the most awards with four, while Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka are all multiple winners of the accolade.
