Article image:Every all-time leading top goalscorer for each Premier League club

With Harry Kane becoming the top goalscorer for Tottenham, many have been asking who has scored the most goals for each Premier League club.

Forwards like Kane are pretty special, and they are very rare in the modern game, but the Englishman has been absolutely key for both club and country for the sheer amount of goals he has scored.

With so many footballers coming through football clubs and lots of transfers happening twice a season, it has become a lot harder to break such a big record these days.

Thanks to The Athletic, we are able to have a look at the all-time leading goalscorer for each club, and some of these players are from the early 1900s.

Who is the record goalscorer for each current Premier League side?

Here is the record goalscorer for every current club in the Premier League, and the stats have been gathered from The Athletic.

Harry Kane is the only player who is still at the club that he became the all-time goalscorer for, so he can continue to push away from other players at Spurs who had the record before him.

Arsenal - Thierry Henry: 228 Goals

Former France and Arsenal striker Thierry Henry is no doubt one of the best ever to grace the Premier League, and it is only fitting that he is the current all-time leading goalscorer for Arsenal. Henry managed to break the record for the Gunners over ten years ago, back in 2012.

Aston Villa - Billy Walker: 214 Goals

Aston Villa have to go all the way back to 1933 to find their all-time leading goalscorer. Billy Walker was one of the best English strikers around during the 1930s, and no doubt goes down in Villa folklore as one of the best-ever players to be at their club.

Bournemouth - Ron Eyre: 229 Goals

Bournemouth, who were founded in 1899, are another club who have to look towards the 1930s for their record goalscorer. Ron Eyre is a Bournemouth legend who also has the record for the most goals in one game for a Bournemouth player.

Back in 1933, just like Aston Villa, Eyre managed to become the leading goalscorer for the now Premier League side, and no one who has played for the Cherries has managed to beat it yet. It looks like his record could be around for a long time.

Brentford - Jim Towers: 153 goals

The Bees are one of the sides who only managed to get to the Premier League for the first time very recently, but they have been an ever-present English Football League team, and their current top goalscorer of all time is Jim Towers.

The Englishman managed to achieve this great record back in 1961 and still holds the record. Some may think Ivan Toney could surpass this record if he stays at Brentford for his whole career.

Brighton's all-time leading goalscorer is Tommy Cook, and the great striker managed to score 114 goals. He scored this record-breaking goal for the club in 1929.

Cook comes in as the lowest scorer on this list compared to the other clubs, but his record should be celebrated and is no doubt a key part of the history of the Seagulls.

Chelsea - Frank Lampard: 211 Goals

Chelsea's record goalscorer is a lot more recent, and a player who is definitely a legend of the Blues. Frank Lampard managed to break the goalscoring record at the club when he scored 211 goals, and he managed to score this landmark goal back in 2014.

What is even more impressive about this is the fact that Lampard is a midfielder. The Englishman won it all with Chelsea.

Crystal Palace - Peter Simpson: 165 Goals

Crystal Palace has struggled to find a talisman in the present day, but they didn't when they had Peter Simpson in their squad. The player managed to score 165 goals for the Eagles, and he broke the record all the way back in 1935.

The South London side have had some great attackers since, like Ian Wright and Wilfried Zaha, but neither have been able to get close to Simpson's record.

Everton - Dixie Dean: 386 goals

Everton legend Dixie Dean, who is probably one of the best to ever play for the Toffees, is unsurprisingly the player who has scored the most goals ever for the Merseyside club.

Dean managed to break the record in 1937 and managed to score 60 goals in one season back in 1927/28. He is remembered fondly by all at the club, and it would need something pretty special to beat his record.

Fulham - Gordon Davies: 178 goals

Gordon Davies is a very well-known footballer for those who watched football just before the Premier League was created.

The Welsh footballer was a great footballer for Fulham and terrified opposition defences for years. He is no doubt going to keep this record for a very long time. He also managed to earn 16 international caps for Wales throughout his career.

Leeds - Peter Lorimer: 238 Goals

Another player who racked up a crazy amount of goals for one club is Peter Lorimer. The player managed to break the all-time leading goalscorer record at Leeds United back in 1985, and with him scoring so many, it feels like his record might never be broken at Elland Road in the present day.

The Scotsman was captain of the now Premier League side when he managed to break the record at the club.

Leicester City - Arthur Chandler: 235 goals

Arthur Chandler managed to break the goal for Leicester City back in 1935, and scoring 259 goals is no easy achievement.

Current Leicester striker Jamie Vardy would have wished he came into his prime a little earlier at the club as he managed over 160 goals, but sadly, it doesn't look like he will have the time to beat Chandler's record.

Liverpool - Ian Rush: 346 Goals

Liverpool have had an abundance of amazing finishers at the club throughout their history and in the present day; however, none come close to all-time leading goalscorer Ian Rush.

The Welshman is arguably one of the best-ever British footballers to play the game, and it is only right that he has such a record as he managed a huge 346 goals whilst at the Reds. If someone manages to beat the Welshman's tally at the club, they would have to be free firing and at Anfield for a long time. He managed this record in 1996.

Manchester City - Sergio Aguero: 260 Goals

Someone who will go down in Manchester City's history forever is striker Sergio Aguero. Not only did the forward manage to become the club's all-time leading goalscorer in 2021, but he also produced the biggest moment in City's history when he scored a stoppage-time winner against QPR, which meant that the club won the Premier League for the first time.

Aguero produced many moments of magic, and it is fitting that he boasts this record for City, but he may be worried that current striker Erling Haaland has a chance of breaking this record if he stays at the club for a long time.

Manchester United - Wayne Rooney: 253 Goals

Manchester United have dominated English football for decades, and a massive reason for this is due to the amazing strikers they have at the club.

One ranks above them all, and that is the all-time top goalscorer, Wayne Rooney. The Englishman managed this record back in 2017 and was a huge reason for United's success when he was at the club.

Newcastle United - Alan Shearer: 206 Goals

Arguably the best-ever footballer to play for Newcastle and all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer cemented his name in folklore when he achieved this amazing feat in 2006.

He also boasts the goals for the most goals ever scored in the Premier League and will be hoping that he manages to keep this achievement forever, but that might be tough with the quality of forwards in the Premier League these days.

Nottingham Forest - Grenville Morris: 217 Goals

Nottingham Forest have had an amazing history, especially when they had the legendary Brian Clough in charge; however, you have to look back to over a century ago to find their all-time leading goalscorer.

Grenville Morris is the man who has scored the most for the club, and he managed this record back in 1913.

Southampton - Mick Channon: 228 Goals

Many Southampton fans may have thought Matt Le Tissier would have picked up this accolade; however, this is not the case. Mick Channon is the all-time leading goalscorer for the Saints with 228 goals and he managed this achievement in 1982.

Tottenham Hotspur - Harry Kane: 267 Goals

Spurs striker Harry Kane is the most recent on this list to become the leading goalscorer of all time at their club, and the Englishman has managed an amazing 267 goals so far. This is a great achievement, and with him still at his best and at a world-class level, many will wonder if he can score 300 goals in all competitions for Tottenham before he retires or possibly moves elsewhere. He broke the record in 2022.

West Ham - Vic Walton: 326 Goals

West Ham striker Vic Walton managed to break the record for the Hammers back in 1935 when he scored an amazing 326 goals, and unless we see someone start firing at the London side from a young age, then this record will never be beaten. It is amazing to see how many goals the player managed, and this has made him a West Ham legend forever.

Wolves - Steve Bull: 250 Goals

Steve Bull will be remembered by both Wolves and English football fans. The player spent around 13 years at the club and managed 250 goals. This makes him the all-time leading goalscorer, and he managed this amazing achievement in 1999.
