Everton supporters went into tonightâs Merseyside Derby low on confidence after a run of one win in their last nine games.
Itâs a run of form which has seen them drop from fourth to 15th in the table and on what has been on display in the opening 20 minutes perhaps their fans were right to be anxious.
Liverpool couldâve been 3-0 up in the opening seven minutes with JoĂŤl Matip and Mohamed Salah both missing good chances inside the area before Jordan Pickford produced a stunning save to deny the Egyptian.
The pressure eventually told in the 10th minute when Jordan Henderson fired the Reds ahead from the edge of the box before Salah doubled the advantage with a composed finish after a swift counter attack 10 minutes later.
Rafael BenĂtezâs reunion with his former club has not gone to plan just yet, and some Everton fans have seen enough.
The Toffees did take four points off JĂźrgen Kloppâs side in these fixtures last season.
