Everton would “love to keep” Jordan Pickford this summer, although they might find it tough to reject a “big money offer” for his services, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The £22.5m-rated goalkeeper has been in exceptional form for the Toffees in their battle against relegation, but England’s number one stopper has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park.

What’s the latest news involving Pickford?

Despite missing just seven Premier League games since he arrived from Sunderland in 2017, the 28-year-old could end his five-year stay with Everton when the transfer window reopens for business.

According to talkSPORT, the Merseyside outfit are prepared to listen to offers for Pickford, even if they avoid relegation.

The report says that Everton could look to cash in on one of their most ‘saleable assets’, with a summer rebuild on the cards for Frank Lampard following their disappointing Premier League season.

Tottenham, who are looking for a long-term successor for Hugo Lloris, and Newcastle, are both keen on signing Pickford, who’s turned out 198 times for Everton.

What did O’Rourke say about Pickford?

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Jordan Pickford, the main thing for Everton right now is that he’s performing. He’s been exceptional for them in the last couple of games. He’s made some crucial saves ensuring they picked up wins against Chelsea and Leicester.

“They would love to keep Jordan Pickford at the club, but if they did receive a big money offer, they might find it too hard to turn down.”

How has Pickford performed for Everton this season?

Pickford has endured his fair share of problems in recent seasons, and at one stage had made the most errors leading to goals across a three year period.

However, Pickford has sorted his differences, and has come up trumps when Everton have desperately needed him.

In recent games, he has produced some of his finest performances in a Toffees shirt, helping his side claim crucial victories against Chelsea and Leicester, notably making a string of outstanding stops to keep the Blues, with his save from Cesar Azpilicueta a standout moment.

As a result, if Everton avoid relegation, then they’ll surely want to keep experienced players like Pickford on board.
