Everton would love to bring Ajax star Mohammed Kudus to Goodison Park, says journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 22-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup with Ghana, has been linked with a move to Frank Lampard’s side, and O’Rourke has described him as a “top player”.

What is the latest news involving Kudus?

According to Calciomercato, AC Milan, Everton, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are all keen on Kudus.

Everton’s interest in the Ajax man is not new, with the player himself admitting that he came close to joining the Merseyside club during the summer and even spoke to Lampard.

“I was really close to joining Everton,” Kudus recently told Star Connect on Joy TV (via Liverpool Echo). “I thought it was a good project for me and I felt I should try it.

“It wasn’t like this season was my first [at Ajax], it was my third. So if I’m not getting the progress I’m looking for, then why not try something else? I spoke to Lampard. I had a chat with him to find out the project they had for me.”

What has O’Rourke said about Kudus and Everton?

O’Rourke thinks Everton would still love to sign Kudus but expects a January deal to be difficult.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Kudus is a top player. He can score goals, create goals and can play anywhere across the frontline, and it’s definitely an area of the team that Everton need to improve on.

“They need to improve their goalscoring record and also need more creative players as well to provide chances for the attacking players in the team, so I’m sure Everton would love to sign him. He’s been a long-term target, but I think it’s going to be a really hard deal to do in January.”

Could Kudus’ price tag rise because of the World Cup?

You would expect it to. There is clearly a lot of interest in Kudus. The demand is there, so why would Ajax not take advantage of that and try to increase the player’s price tag if he has a good tournament in Qatar?

Everton will be hoping that his valuation does not become to high, though, because he is someone who they could really do with.

While Kudus is a midfielder, he has spent most of this season up front and has not disappointed. In 21 appearances, the Ghana international has scored 10 goals, with four of those coming in the Champions League. In total for Ajax and Nordsjaelland, he has registered 29 times.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling to stay fit, Kudus could be a good addition to Everton’s squad in January.
