Everton have got ‘agents that work closely with them’ as they look to sign a new striker, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Toffees have started to get some exciting acquisitions through the door at Goodison Park in recent weeks following a slow start to the summer and could now target attacking reinforcements.

So far, Everton have added James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre, Dwight McNeil, Conor Coady and Amadou Onana to Frank Lampard’s first-team squad.

However, the Merseyside outfit still look short on quality and strength in depth in the final third of the pitch following Richarlison’s £60 million departure to Tottenham Hotspur.

Winger Anthony Gordon was forced to play through the middle in Everton’s opening day defeat to Chelsea due to Dominic Calvert-Lewin picking up another injury issue.

The usual back-up Salomon Rondon was suspended for the visit of the capital club but only notched one Premier League goal in 20 appearances last season.

With Calvert-Lewin and Rondon the only options currently available to Lampard, he will surely be eager to add to his depleted forward line before September’s deadline.

What has Jones said about Everton?

Everton have been linked to two Chelsea players in Armando Broja and Michy Batshuayi largely due to Lampard’s connections, and Jones believes Stamford Bridge is an ‘obvious place to turn’.

He told GiveMeSport: “I mean, it’s just an obvious place to turn, you go to the places where you’ve got the best links.

“So, Lampard will try his own thing, and obviously, they’ve got agents that work closely with them too who are offering players pretty much every day at the moment. So, they’ve got a lot to consider.”

Who could Everton sign?

90min have reported that Everton are ‘in talks’ to sign Batshuayi following his successful loan spell with Turkish giants Besiktas last season.

Journalist Simon Phillips has previously informed GMS that Lampard had a ‘really close relationship’ with the Belgium international during their time together in west London.

Meanwhile, prising Broja away from Chelsea could prove to be a difficult task for Everton as he appears to be part of Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans at this moment in time.

The 20-year-old came off the bench to face Everton over the weekend and Keith Downie has stated that Chelsea ‘want to keep him’ for the current campaign.
