Everton Women have signed goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan on a one-year deal after the Republic of Ireland international left West Ham.

The 25-year-old spent two seasons with West Ham United, making 16 appearances in the WSL and kept three clean sheets in six matches during the last campaign.

“I’m really excited to be here and take this next step for in my career,” she told evertontv.

“The WSL is one of the top leagues in the world and I have really enjoyed being here for the past two years and I wanted to continue to play in this league.

“On an individual level, I just want to improve as much as I can and be the best player that I can be throughout this season.

“As a team, we just want to push as high as we can in the table.”

Manager Willie Kirk told evertonfc.com: “She’s a really good acquisition for us.

“The idea behind signing Courtney is to have someone who is good enough to challenge Sandy [MacIver] but also someone who is young enough to continue to develop and I think we have managed to get both in Courtney.

“She’s been in England for two years now, so she knows the lie of the land and the standards of the Women’s Super League.

“She’s pushing hard to be Ireland’s number one and we’ll support her in that.”
