Villarreal are set to lose Arnaut Danjuma for the forthcoming season, as a season-long loan deal with Premier League side Everton has been agreed.

The move, reported by various sources including transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, has been accepted by Danjuma and is expected to be announced in the coming days.

The Dutch winger was all set to move to Merseyside in January, before the deal was hijacked by Tottenham Hotspur. He scored twice in 12 appearances for Spurs in his six month loan in North London.

Rumours of an imminent deal ramped up after Danjuma missed Villarreal’s latest pre-season friendly against SCR Altach on Tuesday.

Since arriving at the Estadio de la Cerámica from another Premier League club, AFC Bournemouth, he has scored 22 times in 51 appearances, with perhaps the biggest being the winner against Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2022.

Everton have apparently beaten off competition from Milan for the 26-year-old, who still has three years to run on his current contract with El Submarino Amarillo.

Yellows’ boss Quique Setién has already lost Nicolas Jackson and Pau Torres among others this summer, though is rumoured to be interested in Arsenal man Cédric Soares to bolster his side’s defence.
