Imagine him and Abdoulaye Doucoure

The Serbia international has previous experience of playing in the Premier League after making nine appearances for Southampton during a six-month loan spell in the 2014/15 campaign.

Former Saints maestro Dusan Tadic helped talk his Serbia teammate into joining Ronald Koeman’s high-flying side on loan from Benfica in the January window and had some high praise for his compatriot upon his arrival on the south coast.

“He will help us try and get in the top four. You always need good players and competition between players is better. It is good to have more choices,” said Tadic.

“He is my good friend, and he is a good player. He is a number 10, and he knows how to play football. He has potential, and he has quality.”

Since departing St Mary’s, Djuricic has enjoyed spells at various clubs, including Anderlecht and Sampdoria, before joining Sassuolo in July 2018.

The £25,000-per-week maestro had bagged a respectable 14 goals and laid on a further 12 assists in 97 appearances for the Neroverdi, and his technical ability would be a welcome addition to Everton should he make the switch.

Throughout his career, Djuricic has been renowned for his ability to pick out a pass and play defense-splitting through balls to grateful strikers, attributes which would perfectly compliment Abdoulaye Doucoure.

While the French midfielder also has the creativity and intelligence to produce goal-scoring opportunities, he excels in a box-to-box role due to his natural power and ability to cover the field with ease, standing out as one of Everton’s best players in terms of both penalty box impact and tackling ability.

The two could establish a formidable duo in the Goodison Park engine room if they become team-mates, and the club’s hierarchy must sanction a swoop for Djuricic in the January transfer window.
