Everton have repeatedly found themselves in a state of struggle over the past few years. Their performance in the Premier League have indicated several times that the club need new blood. The team had less success than expected in the 2024-25 season.
Lack of rhythm, the impact of injuries and an unbalanced squad kept the team under pressure. There was defensive solidity on some occasions, but the lack of edge on the offensive front exposed Everton’s limitations. After the loan period of players like Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom ended, finding their replacements have become a priority for the club.
Everton now want to enter a new phase, in which they want to strengthen the attack from the wings. The club management’s thinking is that this time, they want permanent and sustainable options.
They have looked at several young wingers, including names like Tyler Dibling, but there is one name among them that has impressed the management a lot—Zuriko Davitashvili.

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Everton have put Zuriko Davitashvili on their radar. The 23-year-old Georgian winger currently plays for US Saint-Etienne. Last season, even though his team dropped down to Ligue 2, Davitashvili performed brilliantly individually. He scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 33 games. Zuriko has an aggressive style of playing and is adept at cutting inside from the left flank. He is quick, technically sound, and his decision-making is also improving match by match.
Davitashvili grew up in the academy of Dinamo Tbilisi. He then proved himself in the leagues of Russia and France. The winger has a good experience of European football, and this is what is attracting Everton. However, the Merseyside club may face tough competition from four other European clubs for this transfer.
If Everton do indeed sign Davitashvili, it will be a bold but smart move. The club need a player who can turn games around single-handedly, and Davitashvili has that quality. He is quick, is well adept with both feet, and is creative. The winger is 23 years old, meaning he has plenty of potential and can serve a long time if settled. Everton’s current squad lacks a winger like him—someone who can cut in from the flanks and get into the box to create chances.
The question, however, is whether the pace and physicality of the Premier League will be too much for him. He may need time to get used to it, but if the coach uses him correctly and he adapts, he could prove to be just like what Richarlison was once. Everton need a sharp edge in their attack, and Davitashvili can provide that edge. The investment is risky, but the upside could be worth it.
