Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai; Salah, Diaz, Gakpo.

With the Toffees moving to their new stadium in the summer, the 245th meeting promises to be an emotional clash for the home supporters (12:30 kick-off, live on TNT Sports 1).

It’s always a passionate affair and the atmosphere will be lifted up another level for this crucial league encounter.

Dyche and Slot face key decisions

A lack of goals in recent weeks saw Sean Dyche make a big decision in Everton’s match at Manchester United last Sunday.

You have to go back to September 14th for the last time Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored and he was dropped for the trip to Old Trafford.

A 4-0 defeat to United then led to Dyche recalling the England international for Wednesday’s clash with Wolves and although he didn’t score, Everton got back to winning ways.

Calvert-Lewin scored in this fixture in April in Everton’s 2-0 success and Dyche is expected to call on the 27-year-old to deliver again on Saturday.

Arne Slot also has selection dilemmas to ponder, with changes likely in both midfield and in the attacking positions.

The Reds are set to make a late decision on whether Diogo Jota can play, although it’s unlikely he will be able to start the match having been sidelined since late October.

Darwin Nunez has just two league goals to his name and after missing a couple of big chances at Newcastle, Slot might decide to replace the Uruguayan up front.

Everton vs Liverpool Team News

Everton are expected to name an unchanged team from the one who beat Wolves comfortably in midweek, with Ashley Young keeping his place at right-back ahead of Seamus Coleman.

Dwight McNeil was taken off with 15 minutes to play but that was to ensure he was fit to play in the derby.

James Gardner and Tim Iroegbunam are still injured and both are unlikely to be available for another fortnight.

Liverpool will be without Alexis Mac Allister for the first Merseyside derby of the season after he picked up a fifth yellow card of the season at Newcastle. The Argentinian serves a one-game ban.

The former Brighton men’s absence is likely to see Slot select a midfield trio of Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones and Dominic Szoboszlai.

Luis Diaz came off the bench in the second half at St James’ Park and is expected to start at Goodison, while Slot has a decision to make between the posts.

Alisson is back in training and could start in goal. Caoimhin Kelleher’s recent impressive performances have meant Liverpool have not rushed back the Brazilian but Kelleher’s mistake for Newcastle’s third goal may lead to a switch.

The visitors will still be without Ibrahima Konate, Connor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas due to injury.
