Everton have triggered a one-year extension in goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan’s contract, keeping her at the club next season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the Merseyside club this morning.

Brosnan has spent the last two seasons with Everton. She has made 18 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League, keeping four clean sheets in the process. A couple of Brosnan’s most impressive performances this season came on the road. The Republic of Ireland international kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 Merseyside derby victory at Liverpool while she also frustrated Manchester United in a goalless draw at the Leigh Sports Village.

The keeper has been a reliable member of the Everton squad and the club have shown no hesitation in retaining her services for another year.

After her Everton deal was extended, Brosnan said “I’m really excited and happy to have extended my time at Everton. Last season was excellent, with a great group of girls and seeing the progress we made. I’m excited to be back next season and hopefully continue on that path and keep on improving.

“Everton is a fantastic club, with great ambition so it’s good to be a part of. It’s really exciting to be able to come in every day and see the progress we have made and push together towards our goals. It’s something I love being a part of and I’m looking forward to next season to continue on that path.”

Brosnan could have fresh competition for the number one jersey at Everton in 2023/2024 with loanee Emily Ramsey having returned to parent club Manchester United at the end of the season.
