Everton have announced the signing of Chelsea forward Louna Ribadeira on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Ribadeira was recently recalled from her loan spell at Division 1 Feminine team Paris FC, as Chelsea grew concerned about her lack of game time. Having made just two appearances for the French club since singing in August 2024, the west-London side have found a new home for Ribadeira at Women's Super League (WSL) opponents Everton.
The 20-year-old is Brian Sorensen's fifth acquisition of the January transfer window, following the signings of Kelly Gago, Martina Fernandez, Hayley Ladd and Emma Watson.
The forward arrives in Merseyside as a proven talent, having taken home the award for Division 1 Feminine Young Player of the Year for her time at Paris FC during the 2023/24 season.
With ACL injuries suffered to both Aurora Galli and Inma Gabarro in the opening weeks of the 2024/25 campaign, Sorensen has utilised this winter window to bolster his attack. The Danish head coach described Ribadeira as "an excellent talent", adding: "I’m sure she will be a good fit for us and can settle in well in the WSL".
The 20-year-old has ambitions of her own, and is certain that her time at Everton will help her achieve her goal of being "a big striker in the world".
“I work every day to be best striker in the world. Paris FC is my first club. I think it's important to know other leagues, other championships," the forward told Everton FC. "When I go to the pitch, it's to play, it's to take pleasure and I like the fight".
Everton's latest signings will have the chance to showcase their talent this weekend as the WSL returns for gameweek 11. The Toffees will host Aston Villa at Walton Hall Park, for a golden chance to steal 7th spot in the league standings.
