Everton are set to appoint Leeds United chief Angus Kinnear as new Chief Executive Officer at the end of the 2024/25 season, according to the Daily Mail.

The 47-year-old is reportedly closing in on a move to Goodison Park as Everton owners, The Friedkin Group (TFG), look to rebuild the club ahead of their move to the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium this summer.

The club’s new ownership is keen to appoint a new CEO as soon as possible to oversee a new era ahead of what’s expected to be a busy summer transfer window.

Everton would have preferred Kinnear to start immediately, but the Leeds chief is keen to see out the club’s push for promotion from the Championship before ending his eight-year spell at Elland Road.

The Yorkshire club currently sit five points clear at the top of the Championship table and seven ahead of third-placed Burnley, with just 12 games remaining.

The former West Ham United and Arsenal executive has an open-ended contract with Leeds, but talks would have to take place between both clubs to facilitate his exit.

Kinnear has been identified as TFG’s top choice for the role, with recruitment specialists Nolan Partners assisting in the search.

Everton have been without a permanent CEO since Denise Barrett-Baxendale resigned in the summer of 2023.

Colin Chong has been filling the position on an interim basis, but his primary focus has been on overseeing the completion of the club’s new 55,000-capacity stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

However, TFG, who finalised their takeover in December, want a CEO with strong football expertise to lead the club into a new era, and Kinnear checks that box.

At Leeds, he played a key role in the club’s recent resurgence and remained in position despite the 2023 takeover by 49ers Enterprises.

He is widely respected within the club and has been a central figure in shaping Leeds’ long-term vision.
