Flamengo travel to the Arena da Baixada on Wednesday for their second leg quarter-final clash against Athletico-PR in the Copa do Brasil.

And despite recently beating their opponents 5-0 in the league on Sunday, they sit 0-0 on aggregate meaning it is do or die time.

Midfielder Éverton Ribeiro, as such, has not held back from urging all of his team-mates to not be complacent heading into the match.

“We are happy to have played a great game and achieved a great result in front of our fans,” said Ribeiro. “It makes us even more sure that we are on the right path.”

“But [the key] is having a cool head and knowing that this Wednesday is a totally different game. We need to get connected in the same way to do our best and win. Even having this experience in knockout games, we know that each one is unique.

“It will be a very difficult match in Curitiba, but we have our confidence to be able to put on a great performance and come out of there with the classification.

“Let’s leave everything on the field.”

Additionally, the 33-year-old shared the same determination when speaking about the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Playing with Brazil is still near the top of his priority list though competing with Flamengo takes priority.

“In the last few years I think I did my part and helped in the qualifiers,” he said.

“This year I was called up in January and I do intend to be in the World Cup squad, but I know that everything depends on what I can do for Flamengo.

“So, my total concentration is to win these titles and God willing at the end of the year to be called up.”

Over the years Ribeiro has been a vital player and leader for both club and country with over 550 appearances to his name.
