Everton have reportedly turned down a second Chelsea bid for Anthony Gordon and are determined not to sell.

A verbal offer of £40m was made to the Toffees over the weekend and was immediately rejected.

The Times report that Chelsea then returned with a formal £45m bid on Monday, which has now been rejected by the Everton hierarchy.

Although it is unclear if the Blues will come back to the table with another improved offer, the Merseyside outfit remain insistent that they do not want to sell the 21-year-old and are hopeful it signals the end of the pursuit.

Newcastle and Tottenham both showed an interest in Gordon earlier this summer, which prompted the club to enter into talks with the attacker over a new contract.

He is valued in excess of £50m by Everton, who have faced frustration so far this summer in an attempt to bring other forwards after Richarlison’s departure to Spurs.

Although not a striker, the Times story also claims that Wolves’ Morgan Gibbs-White also remains on the Toffees’ radar in their determination to add to Frank Lampard’s squad before the transfer window closes.
