Everton ‘explored the possibility of signing’ former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, but the player was not keen, according to reports.

The Blues signed Batshuayi for £34million from French club Marseille in 2016.

He failed to become a success at Stamford Bridge, however, and spent time on loan with multiple clubs before joining Fenerbahce for a small fee last September.

The 29-year-old is enjoying a very stellar season having finally settled with a club.

He has 10 goals in 14 appearances in the Turkish top flight, as well as three in six in the Europa League group stage.

Batshuayi’s terrific form has attracted some interest from Everton; the poor b*stard.

Unsurprisingly, Batshuayi has turned down the opportunity to move back to the Premier League.

He is currently loving life in Turkey and enjoying playing under Jorge Jesus.

Everton are in a state of disarray at the moment, with Ornstein adding that Batshuayi ‘would only have considered moving for a more stable project’. Ouch.

It has been a difficult few days in the transfer window for the Toffees.

19th in the Premier League, new manager Sean Dyche is in dire need of new signings, but the club have struggled to get any deals over the line.

They received £45m for Anthony Gordon, so the funds are there to be spent.

Conor Gallagher reportedly turned down a move to Goodison Park, while Everton have seen a bid rejected by Roma for Nicolo Zaniolo.

Reports in Italy have also linked the Toffees with Udinese forward Beto, though that deal is now believed to be dead in the water.

Southampton – the only side below Everton in the league – look set to beat Everton to the signings of Genk’s Paul Onuachu and Rennes’ Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Furthermore, Everton were told to pay £25m for Coventry City striker Viktor Gyokeres and missed out on Union Berlin’s Sheraldo Becker.

Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor said on Tuesday: “We knew of Everton’s longstanding interest in Sulemana of Rennes and there was potential maybe for a deal to get done. However, he won’t be moving to Everton. It seems he has chosen Southampton.

“The other potential deal was Victor Gyokeres- again, longstanding interest in the Coventry striker. 13 goals in 29 games for Coventry this season. We’re told that is a move is not happening as well.

“We know that Everton would like to bring in players that can effectively hit the ground running for them, they want players that can come straight into that first team squad, available to go straight into that first team against Arsenal.

“At the moment, though, they’re in danger of finishing this transfer window weaker then when they started, and they don’t have very much time to change that.”
