Everton must create goals, excitement for the final two matches at Goodison Park

Everton enter the last two games at Goodison Park looking to ensure the sendoff is one that fans will have fond memories of. The Blues have just one win and two goals in their last five games, and will be hoping they can create and convert chances at a higher rate, especially at home.

The previous few seasons have presented some chaotic celebrations at Goodison Park towards the end of their respective campaigns. Goals that spring to mind include Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s diving header against Crystal Palace in the final home game of 2021-22, and Abdoulaye Doucoure's stunner in the final game of the season in 2022-23.

Although the circumstances are much calmer for The Grand Old Lady's sendoff, the fans will be hoping to say goodbye in the most fitting way, with goals and raucous celebrations.

The Toffees have managed to score just 34 times this season, 22 of which have come at home. The final two games at Goodison are against Ipswich Town and Southampton, who combined have conceded 154 goals. For the attacking players of Everton they should see a great opportunity to add to their tally's for the season, both in goals and assists.

The priority for Everton is finding a striker that can play with consistency and ultimately score regularly. David Moyes will have potentially four strikers available, Beto, Armando Broja, Youssef Chermiti and potentially Dominic Calvert-Lewin could all be involved in the matchday squad against Ipswich. A headache that Moyes will welcome compared to the depth he had available after Brighton. Whoever plays, has to see it as an opportunity to make his case for next season.

The supporting cast in midfield will also need to play their part in ensuring Everton have chances to score. In particular Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Harrison, and Abdoulaye Doucoure are all vying for contract offers from the club. With five goals and two assists between the trio, they will all be hoping the remaining games present them with the chance to make meaningful contributions.

Whoever scores or assists won't necessarily matter to the Goodison faithful. Fast paced, energetic and attack minded football will be demanded by those going through the turnstiles for the final time. Who knows what the results will be, or who will score the final ever goal at Goodison Park.

What does matter is that these games become a celebration of the place the club has called home since 1892.
