Everton owner Farhad Moshiri’s ‘silence speaks volumes’ amid the battle to ensure Premier League football returns to Goodison Park next season, according to Daily Star journalist Paul Brown.

The Toffees are at serious risk of dropping into the Championship as they are just two points clear of the relegation zone with two matches of the campaign remaining.

There are question marks over Moshiri’s long-term future as, according to the Daily Mail, three United States-based tycoons are willing to pay £350million to take the club off his hands.

The report suggests Moshiri has not formally put Everton on the market but is looking for outside investment to help fund the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, leading to potential investors attempting to persuade him to sell up.

It comes just a matter of months after the British-Iranian billionaire took his stake up to 94.1 per cent with a £100million capital injection, seemingly emphasising that he is committed to the Toffees.

Moshiri first headed to Goodison Park when he bought 49.9 per cent of Everton’s assets more than six years ago.

He then became the Merseyside outfit’s majority shareholder when he acquired an additional 18.7 per cent stake in September 2018.

What has Paul Brown said about Moshiri?

Brown believes Moshiri should have made a point of communicating with the Everton fanbase during their struggles this season.

The journalist has not heard from the Toffees owner since before Rafa Benitez was sacked in the early stages of the year.

Brown told GIVEMESPORT: “The only comments I’ve heard from Moshiri have been about how football swings from good to bad and he said we’re not in danger, basically, while Rafa was still there.

“It would be nice to hear from him, but his silence speaks volumes.”

Are Everton likely to stay up?

Everton may find themselves in a relegation dogfight, but their destiny is in their own hands as they have a game in hand over Leeds United and are still two points clear of Burnley, who currently occupy the final spot in the bottom three.

However, the Toffees do not have simple fixtures to look forward to as they will welcome Crystal Palace to Goodison Park on Thursday, before travelling to Champions League-chasing Arsenal on the season’s final day.

It means it is not a foregone conclusion that Frank Lampard, who was appointed as Everton’s manager in January, will succeed in maintaining the club’s top flight status.
