Everton midfielder Nikola Vlašić has hit out at former manager Sam Allardyce and has admitted that he doesn’t know what his holds as he spends this season on loan at CSKA Moscow.

The 21-year-old joined the Toffees from Hadjuk Split in 2017 and started well under Ronald Koeman.

But with the Dutchman’s sacking and Big Sam’s appointment, Vlašić fell out of favour at Goodison Park and was eventually farmed out to Russia last summer.

“Everything changed after Koeman left,” he told Sportske Novosti. “The football played under Big Sam was awful, if it could even be called football.

“[Marco Silva] had known since the end of last year that he would take over Everton and watch the team and he could not see me because I did not play.

“During the summer he brought some very expensive players. Everton spent £100m last year on reinforcements. They are looking for great names and players from big clubs like Barcelona.

“Despite these immense investments, the team is currently in the 11th place, which means there will be new big purchases.

“I know they have firmly decided that they will try to be the ‘new Tottenham’ who will join the biggest league clubs.

“It is logical that it will be difficult for me to see the player who will strike one of the top six in the Premier League. This will require new £50m reinforcements. So I expect them to sell me as soon as they get their first bid.”
