In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Everton midfielder Amadou Onana could leave in the summer. It has been revealed that the Toffees are looking to sell him for a fee between £50-60m in the summer transfer window.

Onana’s Impressive Form At Merseyside This Season

Onana is having a solid campaign at Goodison Park as he has been responsible for putting in a string of decent performances at the heart of Everton’s midfield. The 22-year-old has found the back of the net three times and secured one assist in 31 appearances for the Merseyside club this season across various competitions.

The Belgian talent has proven his worth at both ends of the pitch and deserves some credit for averaging 2.4 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 1.0 shots and 0.8 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has even been tidy when distributing possession from midfield based on his pass success rate of 84.9% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Merseyside club will expire in the summer of 2027. However, Everton’s recent financial struggles could see them cash in on the Belgian talent later this year.

Can Everton Boss Sean Dyche Afford To Lose Onana?

Onana is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn possession back for his team in the middle of the park. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the offensive and can even strike the ball with venom from long range.

The Belgian sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates up top. He mainly operates as a defensive midfielder but can also fill in as a box-to-box midfielder if needed.

Onana remains an important member of Everton boss Sean Dyche’s midfield department. He is currently helping the Merseyside club avoid relegation from the Premier League. Hence, Dyche cannot afford to lose someone of his quality this summer. However, Everton might have no choice but to sell if they receive a favourable offer for him this summer due to their recent financial concerns.
