Everton couldâve been forgiven for being disappointed with a 1-0 defeat at home to Arsenal in front of a sell-out crowd, as Brian Sørensenâs side battled hard for over 80 minutes to keep the visitors from scoring.
When Alessia Russo broke the deadlock, the game looked to have been over, but 16-year-old Issy Hobson hadnât read the script.
Her determined header gave the Toffees their first point against Arsenal in 12 years, and in doing so she became the youngest-ever goal scorer in the WSL.
To make the moment even more special, Hobson revealed that she is a true Evertonian after the final whistle.
âItâs something Iâve been dreaming of since I started playing football and for it to contribute to getting a draw against Arsenal is the best feeling ever,â said the youngster.
âIâve been at Everton for my whole life so itâs even more special. I didnât expect to come on and score and I am lost for words. Iâm so excited to hopefully get more opportunities now after scoring. Iâm so happy.â
That strike all-but made the WSL title race a two-horse race between Chelsea and Manchester City.
