Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti isn't surprised by the form of James Rodriguez this season.

Ancelotti told Directv Sports: "James Rodríguez started very well. There is no doubt about the quality of the player. No one has questioned (him) in Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. I think he thought it was more difficult in these two clubs because there is more competition in the team and sometimes you may not play.

"I think it is more important for him to play than to train. In my opinion, he can be at a good level physically because it is not the coach who will kill him during training. He gets his fitness by playing and that is why he did not play much in Real Madrid. Changing a winning team is much more difficult."
