Spalletti has announced Koulibaly is up for sale this summer, though admits he'd like the centre-half to stay. Spalletti has been appointed new coach of Napoli this summer, replacing Rino Gattuso after his departure at the end of last season.

Quoted by Fotboll Transfers, Spalletti revealed: "I want to chain myself to all players, and as I have already said, I will be happy if the squad remains intact.

"I mentioned Koulibaly just because he is available on the market, but I would like him to stay.

"I have always worked with players so well, not only as a player, but also as a person."

Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport-Express has reported Napoli rejected United's opening offer for Koulibaly last week.

The English giants offered €30m for the 30-year-old Senegal international, which was immediately turned down by the Neapolitans.

Napoli are open to doing business for Koulibaly, though the Italian club is demanding at least €50m for their defender.

Koulibaly has a contract with Napoli to 2023. He moved to Napoli from Genk in 2014 for almost €8m.

Last season he made 37 appearances in all competitions for the Azzurri.
