Everton would rather keep hold of Dominic Calvert-Lewin over Richarlison this summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The attacking pair have both been linked with moves away from Goodison Park in the coming months.

What’s the latest news involving Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin?

Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Richarlison in recent days, although The Athletic has reported that they are yet to put in a formal offer for the Brazilian forward. It is understood that Everton would want in excess of £51m before letting him go.

Meanwhile, Calvert-Lewin has also caught the eye of a number of top-flight clubs in England.

Football Insider claimed last month that Arsenal and Newcastle are leading the race to sign the 25-year-old striker.

What has Bridge said about Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin?

After narrowly avoiding relegation last term, Everton look to be in need of a rebuild under Frank Lampard.

Bridge suspects that the club may need to offload either Richarlison or Calvert-Lewin to raise funds for Lampard to reinvest in his squad, and he feels the Toffees would prefer to sell the former at this stage.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Bridge said: “I get the impression that if Frank Lampard wants to build again, he might have to sacrifice one key player. And you’d probably imagine they’d want Calvert-Lewin to stay over Richarlison, I don’t know. That’s just my opinion.”

Who should Everton try to keep out of Richarlison and Calvert-Lewin?

Richarlison comfortably finished as Everton’s top scorer last season as he netted 11 goals in all competitions. He really stepped up towards the end of the campaign when the team needed him, scoring important goals against Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

The £90,000-a-week star also proved that he is capable of playing from the left or through the middle, while Calvert-Lewin missed the majority of the season due to fitness issues.

Therefore, based purely on last term, Everton ought to try to keep Richarlison over his teammate.

However, Calvert-Lewin has shown in the past that he can be a formidable presence up top as he scored 29 league goals in two seasons between 2019 and 2021.

If he can get back to that form, he could become one of the best strikers in the country again, which would make him a huge asset to Everton once more, and well worth keeping on Merseyside.
