The England international had spent three months on the sidelines nursing an ankle injury before recently returning to the Everton matchday squad.
Ramsey’s hopes of returning to the starting XI have now been dealt a fresh blow with the player having injured her other ankle. The keeper has revealed that she will see a specialist and expects to be out of action for the remainder of the current campaign.
In a personal statement issued by Ramsey this evening, the player said “Following a slow and taxing few months of rehab in a bid to return to first team action before the season ended, last weekend, I was preparing to play in a friendly ready to get 90 minutes of football under my belt after only two weeks of full training, a game I was thoroughly looking forward to.
“Unfortunately however, on Friday I suffered an injury to my other ankle and now await an appointment with a specialist to decide if it needs surgery.
“Suffice to say, I am absolutely devastated. This has been without question, my most frustrating season personally and in terms of feeling unable to contribute to the team.
“It is with this in mind that I’m fully focused on coming back stronger than ever next season and getting back to doing the thing that I love most.”
Ramsey has been able to make just two appearances for Everton this season in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
