Archie Gray transfer interest emerges

It’s no secret that Leeds have had high hopes for 17-year-old Gray, who is the latest member of the famous family to play at Elland Road.

However, there previously had to be patience with the England youth international, as they waited for the right time for him to force his way into the first-team plans.

That time has come now though, with Daniel Farke picking the player in 15 of the 16 Championship games so far this season, in midfield initially before at right-back in recent weeks.

Gray has looked comfortable wherever he plays, showing outstanding technical ability combined with a brilliant mentality that has ensured he deservedly starts for the promotion hopefuls.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gray’s form is attracting interest from Premier League clubs, and it had been claimed over the weekend that Liverpool were considering a move for the £40m-rated teenager.

Yet, they aren’t the only club watching Gray, as Football Insider has revealed that Everton and Crystal Palace are also keeping tabs on the youngster.

Plus, the update confirms that Gnonto and Summerville remain on the radar of the Toffees, after they had tried to sign the duo in the summer.

Will Leeds sell any key players in January?

Leeds are clearly going to be in the mix for promotion come January, so you would struggle to see them cashing in on any key players.

Despite his age, Gray falls into that category, and they will want to build the team around someone like him for the years to come.

One potential problem is that his contract expires in 2025, so it’s something the club will be looking to address. Nevertheless, you would expect Gray to remain with the Whites beyond January regardless, and his future may only become a real talking point if Leeds fail to win promotion.

It’s a similar story with Summerville, who is an important figure under Farke, and Leeds are protected by the fact he has a deal that runs until 2026.

Those two will have ambitions of playing in the Premier League, but they will want to do that with Leeds, and they will fancy their chances of winning promotion this season.

It could be a different story with Gnonto, as there has been talk that he wants to leave, and the Italian international isn’t in the XI right now. But, the Yorkshire outfit will only sell on their terms, so all connected to the club will be very relaxed about their position going into the New Year.

What next for Leeds?

In the short-term though, the only focus for Farke and the team is building on their positive run when they return to action after the international break.

Leeds are back in action on Friday 24th November at Rotherham when the campaign restarts, so it will give them a chance to reduce the eight-point gap to the top two.
