Everton Have Made Their Position Clear On The Reported Spurs Target: Right Call From The Toffees

Tottenham Hotspur have been a galvanized force since Antonio Conte’s arrival and a Champions League berth for the upcoming term has inspired them to dream big in the summer window. If a recent tweet from Sky Sports’ Alan Myers is believed to be true, Everton sensation Anthony Gordon has emerged as a potential target along with Richarlison.

The Toffees, meanwhile, are in deep crisis despite surviving a relegation scare. The rumours of FFP breach led to anxiety at Goodison Park, but the reported takeover might boost them morally as well as financially prior to the upcoming term. Although the future looks uncertain for Richarlison, no offer would be entertained for the 21-year-old as revealed by Myers in his latest post.

Why Gordon Is Unlikely To Leave Everton

Gordon has been the only shining light for the Merseysiders. He, too, made his intentions clear while speaking exclusively with ECHO back in January.

“I’ve never wanted to leave Everton. It’s my home, I’m a Scouser and a home bird as well. The thought of leaving home scares me. It probably wasn’t for me and I never really considered it.”

The attacker, therefore, is not considering his future and the Blues, who have tied him down until the summer of 2025, are maintaining the upper hand.

Gordon featured 40 times last season across competitions. The right-footed forward was not only deployed from the left but also down the right as his pace, swift footwork and prowess troubled an array of high-profile fullbacks. He offered his flexibility by slotting in as a ‘number 10’ on a few occasions and gaffer Frank Lampard must rebuild his Everton side centring their prize asset in the long run.

Stats do not always reflect the real impact and the 4 goals and 3 assists from the England youth international are indeed misleading given the growing interest from the Lilywhites. The Toffees have splashed plenty of cash in recent years, but it’s time to regain the lost pride by being sensible in terms of transfer business. Gordon should not be sold at any cost and the Goodison faithful must be excited already to witness a stellar show from their local lad.
