Everton forward Rikke Madsen has announced the news that she is pregnant.

The Blue Girls confirmed Madsen’s good news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

Madsen will be unavailable for selection for the long term, although she will initially continue light training at the club.

Everton signed Madsen back in January. The forward moved to Merseyside following a spell playing her football in the American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) with North Carolina Courage. Madsen is under contract with Everton until next summer.

Madsen has made eight appearances for Everton since joining the club. The player is yet to net her first goal in a blue and white shirt. Madsen has not been seen in the matchday squad since March with the player having ended contact sport since becoming pregnant.

The forward’s absence has left a space in the Everton squad for the start of next season. Manager Brian Sørensen has confirmed that he will go into the transfer market this summer on the look out for attacking players. The Blue Girls ended the 2023/2024 campaign as the third lowest-scoring side in the Barclays Women’s Super League and they must convert more chances in the attacking third next season.
