With the added element of possibly Yankuba Minteh signing on at Goodison, according to some of the speculation.

Eddie Howe has been said for some time to have an interest in signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, so how are Everton fans taking the news?

Everton fans commenting on widespread reports that Dominic Calvert-Lewin could be moving to Newcastle United (and also a possibility of Yankuba Minteh heading to Goodison Park), comments via their Grand Old Team message board:

‘There is no way selling your most important forward player (who fits perfectly into how the manager plays) for a reserve winger from Newcastle is in any way a positive move.’

‘Minteh has been praised by Arne Slot (his manager in Holland) to an extent that Liverpool have been linked with him as well as other top 6 clubs across Europe.

Newcastle fans want to see him replace Almiron as their first choice right winger.

Before you “give your head a shake” perhaps think to yourself about how a player like that at 19 could transform the attack?’

‘It is what it is but thought he wanted to make a real name for himself at Everton.

Bit of a kick in the teeth that it’s the barcodes.’

‘In fairness, if I were Dom I would leave. He dealt with all of the Everton toxicity at its worst and hasn’t necessarily always been backed by the fans. They are too concerned with his fashion sense.’

‘Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been itching for this move to link up with arl pal Tony Gordon.

I can’t see Newcastle paying him more than we would. He’s far more important to us than he is to them.’

‘Most likely Newcastle want to have three strikers in the squad next season, Isak, Wilson and DCL. Not a bad three to have IMHO.’

‘Isak is the guaranteed starter though when fit and Newcastle want to keep him at all costs for another season.

They’ve also played Gordon as CF when they had injuries so can’t see them keeping three main CFs happy so Wilson will move on eventually.’

‘Would happily see him sold for a decent fee – £20 millions would be acceptable considering its Oil FC.

Get in that big galoot from Luton as his replacement & a loan for Richarlison to give us a goal threat out wide.’

‘Two months and it will be why did we sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin?’

‘If he won’t sign a new contract though, what choice do we have ? I say that as someone who rates him and thinks he’ll be tough to replace.’

‘If I was a striker, I’d wanna play for a team that gave me decent chances to score.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin get 15 or more if he played for Newcastle.’

‘He may want to make a move for lots of both personal reasons (awareness of his age / injury record / responsibility of fatherhood) and professional reasons (playing style / likelihood of silverware / being picked for England / new challenges).’

‘Comparing him to Barkley, calling into question professionalism of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, they are poles apart.

Barkley refused to leave because he was injured to use our medical team and ultimately cost us £20m on the fee. Which isn’t DCL at all as he played 38 games last season and continued putting a shift in.’

‘Dyche is a very effective Manager, held DCL back imo with a brand of boring, but effective football to keep us up, but I think the new owners will want more football than hoof ball IMHO.’

‘Has had to put up with ridiculous behaviour from some of our fans but always gave it his all on the pitch.

Signed for 1m+ and spent eight seasons here. A successful signing in goals/mentality that we should have been making more of the last decade.’

‘You all only have yourselves to blame. How could you expect him to stay with the toxic atmosphere this poor lad has had to suffer through for nearly a decade?

You should have been kissing the ground he walks on and laying palm fronds beneath his feet as he chipped in with less than 15 league goals in 3 seasons while taking home 100k a week.

Now he hates you all and wants to watch Tony Gordon score against us while he cheers him on from the Geordie bench.’

‘I think Dom can be accommodated better over there and managed more properly as Newcastle United have more talent. He is a risk for them agreed, but he is a far larger risk for us where he will play every game.

In a good midfield & a good crosser of the ball he will score – not Hoof ball.’

‘If DCL goes to Newcastle and we have their 19 year old rapid goalscoring right winger in return then if nothing else it will be exciting to watch.

If hes anything like a Kanchelskis in style then he could be our version of Garnacho.’

‘Take the young lad and Wilson

I like DCL good player on his day and we are certainly better when he is on form.

But we can’t afford to let him run the contract down.

He will do well for Newcastle if he ends up there as they create more than us.

Just keeping him fit is the problem.’

‘I’m excited about Minteh coming the other way. The fees we see for both players if this double deal moves forward could be elevated.

But put that to one side and no matter what I would be keen to move DCL on for a good fee this summer. If it was a straight deal with Newcastle, they pay cash upfront–just like with Gordon.’

‘It’s a huge risk for Newcastle imo – the lad is made of sticklebricks.’

‘I think Dom can be accommodated better over there and managed more properly as they have more talent. He is a risk for them agreed, but he is a far larger risk for us where he will play every game.’

‘Really not too bothered if he goes, don’t get me wrong on his day he is unplayable, seems like a decent lad, but this is our last chance to cash in.’

‘In a year he’ll command a fee of £0 mate because his contract expires.

If there’s an offer above £20m on the table this summer we quite simply have to take it.’

‘If we do the deal with Chelsea it will be 10m plus Broja, Newcastle it will be 15m plus Minteh.’

‘£15mil + Minteh?

Think you have got that backwards.

‘In the 2 seasons he had bad injuries and managed only 17 appearances, we had to rely on the last home game of the season in both to stay up.

Whenever he plays 30+, like last season – we’re comfortable in mid table.’

‘Might as well get them to throw in Premier League-proven Callum Wilson if they want Calvin.

He might be 32, but he’s still a clinical finisher and wouldn’t fluff anywhere near the number of chances Calvin generally does. He’d be a good option for this coming season – certainly miles better than anything else we have – and at worst a decent bench option for a further season when he’s 33 going on 34.

Wilson, Minteh + £9m.’

‘I wonder how much of this price, is how Newcastle value that Minteh lad.’

‘Key point here is how much PSR trouble Newcastle are in.

Not sure on Minteh’s ‘real’ or ‘estimated’ value but clearly if the RS want him and after the season he’d had its a wonder he’s not gone to Chelsea.

The only way we have a chance is that they want DCL & PSR.

Whatever deal is done for DCL it wont be because of his value — it will be based on what Newcastle need for PSR compliance.’

‘£37m for Dom would be incredible, getting nearly £80m of the Geordie jokers for him and Gordon is hilarious and will have/do wonders for our PSR standings

The offset is we also boost theirs by giving £35m back for Minteh.’

‘I mean realistically unless it’s part of a PSR switcheroo no one is paying £37m for him.’

‘I think his goals are secondary to the way he’s allowed the team to get up the pitch. His works rate and hold up play has been absolutely critical.

I think he’s the most important single player to the system.’

‘He’s a focal point and sacrifices a lot of his goals in what was the most defensive team in the league last season.
