In a recent interview with Give Me Sport, journalist Dean Jones mentioned that Everton are eyeing a move for Stade Rennes winger Kamaldeen Sulemana. Jones said,

“Sulemana is somebody that they’ve (Everton) made inroads with agents to see how that deal could be struck, and I think it is certainly possible that it could happen.”

Sulemana’s Impressive Form In French Football This Season

Sulemana has served as an important member of Rennes’ squad this season and has managed to put in a few eye-catching displays for them off the bench. The 20-year-old has registered one goal and two assists in 20 matches for the French club during this campaign on all fronts.

The Ghanaian winger has made most of his appearances as a substitute but has done well to average 0.9 shots and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in Ligue 1. He was even excellent when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 85.7% in the top tier of French football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the French club is set to run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it will be difficult for Everton to snap him up before the transfer deadline as Rennes are under no pressure to sell him this month.

What Will Sulemana Bring To Everton?

Sulemana has got the pace to make a few dangerous runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can strike the ball with power from long range and can create some problems for the opposition defenders when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.

The Ghana international is primarily a left-sided wide player but can also fill in as a right-sided winger or as a centre-forward if his manager asks him to do so.

We can expect Sulemana to bring more firepower to the Toffees‘ attacking department. He is good enough to increase competition for places within Everton‘s match-day squad.

At 20, Sulemana has got a bright future ahead of him as long as he continues to work hard on improving his all-around game with each season. All in all, he will be a decent, long-term option for the Merseyside outfit this month. However, Sulemana is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life at Goodison Park. Hence, he won’t be able to help Everton get out of relegation trouble which they currently find themselves in going into the second half of this Premier League campaign.
