Everton continue to search for solutions to put frustrating seasons behind them. In recent years, the team have flirted too closely with relegation and lost ground to their historic rivals. A lack of consistent goals has been one of the most obvious causes, with strikers failing to deliver consistently. Although the team has shown some improvement with the arrival of David Moyes, they still need new signings who can raise the competitive level of the side.
Aware of these shortcomings, the club have finally made a move. This summer, they signed Thierno Barry from Villarreal, but at Goodison Park, they know that one striker is not enough. They need another player in the attack, and they are not just looking for a stopgap; they are looking for a hungry striker with recent statistics to back up his signing. Everton need someone who will arrive to fight for a place from day one, not to warm the bench.

According to French journalist Sebastien Vidal, Everton have set their sights on Nick Woltemade. The 23-year-old German striker has attracted interest from several European leagues thanks to his great season with VfB Stuttgart. Although Bayern Munich initially seemed to have the upper hand in the race to sign him, the Bavarian club have stepped aside, at least for now. This opens the door for the Toffees to try to convince the player and close an ambitious deal.
Woltemade has put up solid numbers at Stuttgart: 17 goals and three assists in 33 games. He is tall, powerful, good in the air and a constant presence in the opposition’s box. He will fit in with the demands of the Premier League and, above all, with Moyes’ tactics. In addition, he has already been called up by the German national team, which shows how he is growing in stature.
The striker would be a good pick, and not just because of his goals. He is very much in the opposition box most of the time; his ability to hold the ball with his back to goal and his energy when pressing fit well with the physical demands of English football. Unlike other signings who have arrived without rhythm or recent impact, Woltemade arrives in top form, with confidence and ambition. If Everton manage to convince him, they would not only be signing a useful player, but a potential starter.
On the other hand, his age works in his favour. At 23, he can still grow, adapt and increase his value. If Everton manage to stay up in the top flight without suffering, he could even increase his value in two or three seasons. Of course, convincing Woltemade will not be easy, especially if Bayern return to the fray, but if the Toffees manage to make a move quickly, they could seize the moment and make a signing that combines the present and the future.
