Everton defender Ben Godfrey has praised the presence of Fabian Delph in the squad.

The veteran midfielder, who can fill multiple positions in the team, has only played 34 games since joining from Manchester City in 2019.

However, Godfrey believes the veteran 32-year-old is a crucial part of the squad in training and behind the scenes.

"Absolutely, he doesn't get the credit he deserves, either," Godfrey said.

"He's a massive voice, a big personality, A great guy, and an unbelievable player as well. And he's got opinions that the lads listen to. To have those sorts of personalities in your squad is so important.

"He doesn't get the credit he deserves, he's a good, good leader."

Godfrey added: "It's really hard to see someone like that not get the regular game time and training sessions they want because he works hard everyday.

"And when he's back fit he still works hard, doing bits in the gym, everything he can to try and remain fit for selection at the weekend to try and help the lads and the club.

"It's tough when you see a lad going through that where they can't get going or picks up injuries. it's not nice to see. All he wants to do is play football and play well for Everton.

"He's been back for a couple of games and he's done really well and been great to play with."
