Everton have issued a statement confirming that Lyon loanee Orel Mangala has suffered a season-ending injury.
"Mangala sustained an anterior cruciate ligament knee injury late on during the Blues’ 1-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday that will sideline the on-loan midfielder for the rest of this season," wrote the official statement. "The Belgian international will now see a specialist to determine the next step for his recovery."
The update also gave further bad news for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who also went down against Brighton.
Calvert-Lewin sustained a hamstring injury in the 12th minute at Brighton which will require a specialist opinion," the statment continued, "and is likely to sideline the striker for a number of weeks."
Everton face a key clash against Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend.
