Everton are growing increasingly confident that Andre Gomes will sign for the club on a permanent basis despite interest from the likes of Inter Milan and Atlético Madrid.

Gomes joined the Toffees on a season-long loan last summer and has enjoyed a relatively successful 12 months on Merseyside.

The Portugal international is due to go back to parent club Barcelona come the end of the season, but with Barça looking to sell, it’s almost certain that the 25-year-old will be playing his football away from Camp Nou come next term.

There have been reports indicating that Inter and Atleti were keen on Gomes, and as such, Everton faced an uphill task in persuading the youngster to play at Goodison Park again.

However, the Liverpool Echo state that the player is desperate to stay with Marco Silva’s side and will push Barcelona to accept an offer in the coming months.
