The Sun has recently reported that Everton centre-forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the radar of West Ham United. It is understood that the Hammers are showing interest in the English striker with the Toffees looking to recoup £60m to make up for their overspending in recent years.

Calvert-Lewin’s Injury Struggles At Merseyside This Season

Calvert-Lewin has endured an injury-plagued campaign at Goodison Park so far. However, the English marksman has done well to bang in three goals in six matches for the Toffees this season across all fronts.

The Sheffield-born talent deserves some credit for averaging 1.3 clearances, 3.0 shots and 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes in the Premier League. However, he has been sloppy when distributing the ball in the final third based on his pass completion rate of 60.9% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

Can Everton Afford To Let Calvert-Lewin Go?

Standing at 1.89m, Calvert-Lewin can be a real handful for any defender and has proven himself to be a dominant presence in the air. He is usually a composed finisher in front of the opposition goal and can get himself into some dangerous areas in the attacking end of the pitch. The English sensation can even engineer some decent openings for others around him but needs to improve his passing if he wants to taste success at the highest level.

At the moment, Calvert-Lewin remains one of the most influential members of Everton‘s first XI. Thus, the Toffees simply cannot allow him to leave this January or at the end of this campaign.

The 24-year-old’s current contract at Goodison Park is set to run down in the summer of 2025, so there is no immediate pressure for the Merseyside club to sell their star striker.

Everton would be wise to keep hold of Calvert-Lewin for as long as possible as he has got what it takes to help them get out of relegation danger and could even propel them to challenging for European football in the coming seasons. At 24. the English talent is about to enter the peak stage of his career which means that his market value will only increase in the future as long as he can steer clear of injuries.
