Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that he is not underestimating the challenge that Leicester City will bring to Walton Hall Park this evening.

The two sides are set to contest a rearranged fixture which was initially postponed on the opening weekend of the season following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Everton go into their latest match on the back of a confidence-boosting Merseyside derby victory over Liverpool while tonight’s opponents Leicester City are still searching for their first points of the new season.

Despite The Foxes’ lack of positive results so far, Everton boss Sørensen still sees them as a significant threat.

“For me, after watching Leicester, I would say that they probably don’t have the points that their performances deserve,” Sørensen said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “If you look back at their two games, they have looked very organised, they are a team that dares to play and they have a clear plan of how they want to do things.

“I actually really enjoy watching them play, they’re a good team. People say that they are maybe one of the favourites to go down but I don’t see that, I see a team that are well organised and want to play football.

“We will have to be at our best like we were at the weekend to get the win.”

Everton will be cheered on by a sell-out crowd at Walton Hall Park this evening. Sørensen went on to highlight the positive effect that the fans can have on their team this season.

He said “When you have more than 2,000 people in that little ground, it is going to generate some noise and it is going to be an intense atmosphere to play in.

“I actually didn’t feel at Anfield that it was that intense and it was perfect to play there with all of the fans. It was also our plan to turn the (home) crowd down a bit with our football, keep the ball and let Liverpool suffer.

“If our fans are with us and we can build that momentum against the opponent, it can be quite effective.”

Everton’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Leicester City kicks-off at 6.30pm this evening.
