In a recent report, O Jogo (via Sport Witness) revealed that Everton are facing tough competition for Coventry City forward Viktor Gyokeres. It has been claimed that the Toffees will have to rival Fulham, West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the race to land the Swedish striker this summer.

Gyokeres’ Impressive Goal-Scoring Record In The Championship

The 25-year-old enjoyed an outstanding season at Coventry City as he has put in a string of impressive performances for them in front of the opponent’s goal. Gyokeres has scored 22 goals and picked up 12 assists in 50 appearances for his current club during this campaign across all competitions.

The Sweden international has led the line well in the opponent’s half based on his average of 2.9 shots, 1.9 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per game in the EFL Championship. However, he has lacked quality when distributing possession in the final third after completing only 68.6% of his attempted passes in the second tier of English football (stats via whoscored).

Gyokeres is under contract at Coventry until the end of next season. Thus, Everton have a great chance of arranging a cut-price move for him during this summer transfer window.

Everton Face Stiff Competition For Gyokeres: Is He Worth The Fight?

Gyokeres has proven his worth as a productive presence in front of the opponent’s goal. He excels at finding space for himself and usually keeps his strikes on target.

The Swedish talent can also set up some inviting opportunities for his teammates to find the back of the net. He is a good dribbler with the ball as well but could struggle to maintain his good form in the Premier League if Everton can devise a way to get him on board this summer.

Gyokeres will bring more goals to Sean Dyche’s attack. He is good enough to rival Dominic Calvert-Lewin for a regular starting place at Goodison Park next season. Therefore, Gyokeres will be well worth the fight as he would help the Toffees challenge for a top-half finish in the Premier League. Furthermore, at 25, his best years are ahead of him which makes him a decent option for the Merseyside club to pursue in the long run.
