Everton have been boosted in their hopes of luring Harry Winks to Goodison Park as the Tottenham Hotspur ace would be ‘attracted’ to working under Frank Lampard, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Lampard was appointed as the Toffees’ boss in January, but he is still waiting to complete his first signing of the summer transfer window.

What’s the latest news involving Winks?

Winks has been deemed surplus to requirements by Tottenham, with the north Londoners placing a £25million valuation on the midfielder.

That has put Lampard on red alert, with him being keen to seal a deal which would see Winks head to Goodison Park.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed discussions have been held between Everton and Spurs over Winks while his current employers have progressed in their pursuit of the Toffees’ Richarlison.

But the Merseyside outfit are not Winks’ only admirer as, according to The Sun, Sevilla have been considering whether to join the race for his signature.

The report suggests Fulham and Southampton have also shown an interest in the 10-cap England international who last represented his country in November 2020.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Winks?

O’Rourke believes Winks would be open to the possibility of making the move to Everton ahead of the transfer window closing on September 1.

The journalist feels it would be a shrewd transfer for the midfielder and Lampard’s charges as he looks to rediscover his best form.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “Harry Winks was an England international not that long ago, so maybe a new challenge is needed for him to get the best out of himself again.

“The chance to work with Frank Lampard, I’m sure, is something that would be attractive to him as well.

“It could be a good fit for Everton because I’m sure that they would be getting a hungry and determined Harry Winks if he was to leave Tottenham.”

What would Winks offer Everton?

Last season was not memorable for Winks, with him only being handed 17 starts, but there is no doubt that he could be an asset to Everton.

The 26-year-old offers bags of Premier League experience, having appeared in the competition on 128 occasions, while he has also earned praise from managers through the years.

Former Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino previously described Winks as ‘amazing’, while Antonio Conte has claimed he can ‘count on’ the enforcer thanks to his ‘great commitment’.

With Everton hoping to enjoy a much-improved season, having only finished four points clear of the relegation zone last term, Winks could be an underrated signing for Lampard.
