América responded to the disappointment of docked points by beating Pachuca on Saturday night.

The Azulcrema beat Atlas 2-0 on the road last weekend, only to subsequently have the points stripped from them for ‘improper alignment’.

There was no hangover from that setback, however, with Richard Sánchez’s magnificent lob from almost the half-way line putting them 1-0 up at the Estadio Azteca.
