AC Milan have been scouting AZ Alkmaar star Vangelis Pavlidis but they face stiff competition from Premier League sides Fulham and Chelsea, as well as Barcelona.

As has been reported by the Evening Standard in the United Kingdom, the Eredivisie top scorer is attracting interest from all over Europe and he is keen to leave AZ this month.

Milan had dealings with AZ in the summer as that is where Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders was signed from.

Pavlidis is 25 years old and Milan sent scouts to watch him in recent weeks, as he has scored 18 goals in 16 league matches this season. Those numbers are enough to make any team take notice.

Fulham may look like a less interesting option for Pavlidis but being in the Premier League makes signing players much easier, and there is more scope to be a starting striker there.

Pavlidis tried to force a move to a team in the Champions League during the 2023 summer transfer window, but there were no direct approaches.

The Greece international told De Telegraaf this weekend: “Are there things going on? I don’t talk about that now — I prefer to keep that to myself.

“It is clear that I am physically and technically ready to take the next step. The transfer window in the winter is of course different than in the summer. It is more difficult in several ways. That is why I don’t know whether this is the right time.

“Everyone knows that I wanted to take the next step last summer. In the end it was not the right time, because a suitable club did not present itself.”
