Brighton have locked down rising talent Evan Ferguson on Tuesday after the striker penned a new deal with the club.

The 18-year-old Ireland international, whose form has made headlines for club and country, will now stick around until 2028.

Initial reports suggested Manchester United were keen to make a move for the youngster, but that is now off the table.

“Evan’s contract extension is great news. He trains and plays like a senior player with many years of experience and has become an important member of the squad,” said manager Roberto De Zerbi on the news.

“The aim is to help him become one of the strongest strikers in Europe.”

Ferguson has scored nine goals for the Seagulls, including four in the Premier League and recently opened his account for Ireland last month.
