Former Barcelona assistant coach Eusebio Sacristan can see Xavi eventually taking charge of the Blaugrana.
The Al Sadd boss is favourite for the job should Quique Setien be pushed out.
And Eusebio told Mundo Deportivo: "Just as I always say about Ronald Koeman I say about Xavi. Their experience at Barça as reference players is very positive because they know what the club is like, its philosophy and the environment.
"Xavi has wanted to be a coach and surely he is very clear about what he wants. His ability to absorb concepts is enormous, like when he was a player, and that surely helps him. He may lack some experience in the elite, but Pep (Guardiola) was also lacking when he took the team and you saw how it worked.
"It would not be a handicap and also knows the locker room."
